Description
This book intends to presents a background for and a chain of exciting and novel outcomes for a proposed model of MIMO radar. The proposed model is unique and novel, consisting closely spaced antennas that transmit orthogonal waveforms, and can be treated as a logical generalization,in terms of increasing antenna, to existing models for conventional SISO (single-input, single output) radar systems. This study also demonstrates the categories of architectures this system has, with their merits and demerits. It is seen that though MIMO radar system usually does not provide any beam forming due to orthogonal nature of its waveform, adaptation of optimization technique on the waveform does. Also as compared to widely separated antenna, the closely spaced antenna provides better beam forming due to its structural similarities with the phased array radar. The proposed signal model and likelihood estimation model have been defined thoroughly, with some important assumptions. The Cramer-Rao bound for the models is discussed and Fisher Information Matrix has been derived for the joint estimation of target position and velocity.
