Description
This volume contains the main part of the lectures contributed to the Conference on Recent Developments of General Topology and its Applications in Memory of Felix Hausdorff (1868-1942) held at Berlin in March 1992. Felix Hausdorff was one of the main founders of topology. With his pioneering monograph "Grundzuege der Mengenlehre", a rapid development of classical topology began. Up to today an important development of general topology continues. Most of the papers presented in this book reflect the new trends in this field. The scope is broad. The contributions among others concern the dimension theory, extension and completion problems, nearness and convergence structures, distance spaces, fuzzy topology, fractal geometry as well as applications to functional analysis and, moreover, the history of mathematics.
