The Death of a Queen

January 2001 sees the commemoration of the centenary of the death of Queen Victoria. In these republican days, it is hard to comprehend that the weeks prior to and after the Queen's death were momentous. Here the "end of an era", with many countries coming to a standstill, is analysed.
