Description
The story commences on the same day as Looking To Move On concludes. We follow newly-weds Sophie and Matt West together with Tilly, the daughter from his first marriage, as thry continue their life in Eastwood Minster.
Two other stories are weaved in with that of the Wests. The first is about Liz James (who conducted Matt and Sophie's wedding), as she encounters a range of situations in her work as a vicar. The story also recounts her close friendship with Alice Nichols, a history teacher at the local college (who has her own story from the past), together with encounters with Mrs Conway who was in the original book and now diagnosed with dementia. Liz also meets Nick, the previously unnamed bus driver who witnessed the original accident and is experiencing PTSD.
The second interweaved story is that of Jess Wilson, engaged to local troublemaker Steve Archibald. There are many twists and turns in this wonderfully written observation of love, life and death.

Person
Richard's paid employment career was mainly helping people whose disability or mental health affected their ability to find or remain in employment. Like his first novella, Living the Difference draws on personal and professional experience and how people deal with and respond to difficult and enjoyable life events. Other understanding he brings to this new title is from being married to a vicar and involvement with church life and other clergy for over 40 years. With all of his writing it is important to him, and to this story, that readers can relate some aspects of their own lives to what they are reading.
