Robert Frost (1874-1963) is renowned for his memorable and incisive depictions of country life and mastery of everyday speech. Born in San Francisco, he lived and worked mostly in New England, where he drew inspiration from its communities, towns, and landscapes and from its people. Frost is the only poet to have received four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry. His other accolades include the Congressional Gold Medal in 1960 and the Bollingen Prize in 1963, and more than forty honorary degrees from prestigious institutions.
