Description
It would be impossible to be a resident or frequent visitor to Padstow, Polzeath, Rock or St Minver and not be aware of the significance of the Doom Bar across the Camel river mouth, and of the history of the wrecks and rescues which has continued for some five or six hundred years down to the present. This book is as complete a record of what has occurred in that time as is possible to compile. This new edition is presented in colour and black/white, and has been brought up to date by detailed additions. Unfortunately tragedies still occur, usually through mens' folly, and the rescue services of the RNLI, the Coastguard and the National Coastwatch are always on call. We must never forget that anyone can put a boat on the water unhindered and it is still not compulsory in law for trawlermen to wear lifejackets.
