Description
Gumbo Bottoms is a tiny bar in the heart of the City of Jefferson in the great state of Missouri. It's an alley with a lid on it; we love local, regional, craft everything.
Homebrew, as a definition. means made at home, rather than a store or a factory. That's pretty open-ended and I believe sums up this poetry club. The skill levels of this club range from super novice, like myself, to accredited, published, and respected writers.
I was told once that the great skill set in writing is learning the rules, then learning how to break them. It's fitting that people who hang out at a tiny bar known for rotating craft beer, craft whiskey, and craft roots music, would be the breeding ground for craft words. Homebrew is that craft, learning the rules in order to have the right to break them, push the envelope.
This group constantly inspires, supports, engages, enriches, and normalizes art, no matter how strange. With great pleasure we present our latest offering to the gods of grace and karma and love.
A special thank you to the Osage Arts Council - an amazing group of humans involved with promoting and protecting all kinds of art from mid-MO and way beyond.
Earnestly good humans. Thank you for the love and support, and that's from everyone involved in the club.
So, here is the sophomore effort of a poetry collection from us to you. Gumbo Bottoms Single Pot Still Poets Society proudly presents:
Homebrew!
When in doubt, do it yourself,
push the envelope, be weird....
Slainte,
Padrigh Stiofan
