Sailing Club

It blows in a continuous movement across me, over me, through me: pain. All of us - the chronic painers - we have a club of invisible survivors. While others sail through life in painless modes, members of the sailing club pay every day to belong. Dreaming is all that keeps us going - the dream of that day when we no longer hurt. Are we more dynamic than our pain, or has it reduced us? Do others see a burden or a person? What is the cost of membership in the sailing club?
