Roberta - Basics and Experiments.

The "Roberta series" documents the Roberta concept which has been developed by Fraunhofer IAIS and partners und sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research. The series presents teaching and learning material for robot courses that are interesting for girls and conducted by trained Roberta course directors. The course directors are supported by the network of regional Roberta centres throughout Germany. This volume 1 "Roberta - Basics and Experiments" contains any essential basics related to the planning and conduct of Roberta courses. This includes, in particular, didactic advice on a gender-sensitive course organization. The book introduces to robotics, presents the components and technology of the LEGO Mindstorms Invention System (RIS) and demonstrates possibilities of programming the robot control with RIS and NQC. Furthermore the book offers an abundance of experiments, detailed building instructions and bibliographical references.
