Description
Things are never so bad they can't get worse. For the Brightstars they just did.
Laren Brightstar knows his family's in serious trouble. If he doesn't finish building the heat exchanger before Opposition's heat sets in they'll all perish. Then what little money they have is confiscated and he's hauled off to territorial prison in a midnight raid, leaving his teenaged son, Dirck, responsible for the family's welfare.
Above everything else, Dirck is acutely aware that none of this would have happened if his missing sister, Creena, had followed the rules.
Unaware of the chaos left in her wake, Creena only wants to get back home. The planet where she hopes to find assistance complicates her situation even further, stranding her on a backward world where evil forces follow her wherever she goes.
Will each of them survive long enough to ever be together again?

Marcha Fox earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Utah State University in 1987, which facilitated a 20+ year career at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Forever fascinated by the heavens, when her attempt to debunk astrology backfired, she pursued knowledge in that field as well. She graduated from the International Academy of Astrology's professional development program in 2012 and created ValkyrieAstrology.com. Much of the popular website's informational content can be found in "Whobeda's Guide to Basic Astrology." Her previous fiction work includes five novels in the hard science fiction genre. Her epic Star Trails Tetralogy series has been highly acclaimed for its family-oriented plot as well as its palatable and accurate science content. Directed primarily to teens and young adults with an interest in science or engineering, more information can be found on StarTrailsSaga.com.Born in Peekskill, New York, she has lived in California, Utah, and Texas in the course of raising her family that comprises six grown children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She pampers her indoor and outdoor cats while trying to keep up with her astrology clients, home, yard, garden, friends, family, and of course, writing. She currently makes her home in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State.
