Description
"Towards Synthesis" is an intermediate-level-course which can be used either to precede synthesis or independently. There are 15 units, each presenting and practising a number of language points and providing an average of five hours classwork each. This teacher's book contains workbook, test materials and coursework, a grammar section and also an index system. The first five units provide thorough revision and consolidation of previous work. Structures are presented in order of difficulty: "Listening" - tapescripts are contained in the coursework. Longer scripts are easily broken up. "Speaking" - students are given practice in all necessary vocabulary and structure before doing tasks. "Reading" - many of the texts are authentic. Writing - always derives from previous work. Six activity sections provide mainly additional material for role-playing to develop speaking skills. Tests are provided at the end of each sequence of five units and are based on the units' contents. A reference section at the back of the book covers all the grammatical points contained in the units.
