Description
Presents neurosurgical anatomy by detailing approaches on cadavers in the same position patients would be placed in during a real operative procedure. Anatomy is described in: 1) all commonly used cranial and cranial base approaches, 2) anterior, posterior, anterolateral and posterolateral approaches to all segments of the spine, 3) all commonly performed procedures on peripheral nerves, and 4) endoscopic approaches to cranial and spinal neurosurgery. Stresses the understanding of the anatomy rather than the performance of the procedure.
Reviews / Votes
. . . comprehensive overview . . . We applaud the authors' goal of describing relevant microsurgical anatomy and technique of standard surgical approaches by using anatomical specimens oriented in the operative position and dissected using standard surgical approaches. . . Young neurosurgeons and residents in training will find this book to be a good introduction to all cranial, spine, peripheral nerve, and neuroendoscopic techniques. --Journal of Neurosurgery"...the book is quite a useful tool for introducing neurosurgeons in training to an understanding of the three-dimensional surgical anatomy and of how to select the most suitable surgical approach...practicing neurosurgeons will find it useful as a quick refrence source from which to refresh their knowledge of surgical anatomical relationships..." --Child's Nervous System, 9-10/2002
