Sense of Doubt. Resisting Oblivion

We need a well-developed sense of doubt in order to counteract the narratives of power. This productive doubt enables us to see into the past. It makes present what was repressed and fosters an awareness of alternatives. With an exhibition of 18 video artworks in the grounds of the Museum Angewandte Kunst and an accompanying series of lectures and panel discussions, the project Sense of Doubt aims to show how this sense of doubt can give currency to alternative memories of historical events and secure them a place in contemporary global discourse.

A project of the Cluster of Excellence The Formation of Normative Orders in collaboration with Sesc São Paulo, Associação Cultural Videobrasil, the Museum Angewandte Kunst and Dr. Paula Macedo Weiß Kulturproduktion, as part of the B3 Biennial of the Moving Image. Additional cooperation partners are the Cultural Office of the City of Frankfurt, the University of Art and Design Offenbach am Main, the Städelschule Frankfurt and the Goethe Institute São Paulo.
