Description
Magic is real. But so are monsters.
Oisin dreams of being a hero, like the ones he reads about in books. So when he overhears a plot for a midnight raid on a Dublin museum, he knows this is his chance.
But Oisin soon realises that heroes must fight monsters. Dark things that lurk in the shadows - like the sinister Fomorians - don't take kindly to those who get in their way.
With the help of legendary troublemaker Fionn Mac Cumhaill, can Oisin prevent death and destruction? Or will modern Dublin find itself at the mercy of the mythical monsters it had forgotten?

Reviews / Votes
a thrilling adventure set against the familiar backdrop of Ireland's ancient mythology while still remaining modern ... a fun page-turner that any reader who loves magic, history, mythology or adventure stories will really enjoy -- Inis Magazine witty, complex and engrossing -- Booktrust Stories in which ordinary kids turn out to be anything but are endlessly satisfying, and Oisin Ryan's adventures, steeped in magic and Irish myth, are particularly enjoyable ... a clever use of Irish legends and as stories of magical young heroes go, definitely amongst the best. If you don't know much about Irish myth, that won't be a problem, though you'll likely be inspired to find out more. The ending sets the stage perfectly for more adventures, and they won't come soon enough for readers -- Books for Keeps' Book of the Week a thrilling adventure set against the familiar backdrop of Ireland's ancient mythology while remaining modern. In his debut novel, Forrest manages to perfectly balance the strange with the familiar, the ancient with the new, all while peppering his storytelling with humour and heart -- RTEjr Book Club a really good book ... What I liked best about the book was that there was always action, making it very hard to put the book down. I would definitely recommend this book giving it 4.5 stars. If you're into fantasy, myths and Irish legends you will love this book!-- Gearoid, Clonmoney N.S., Co. Clare on Seomra Ranga
