Description
A specific characteristic of forest soils is their long-term development under more or less continuous vegetation cover, resulting in a deeper-reaching rooting zone, higher humus content and porosity compared to soils of other land-use types. However, some of these functions of forest soils are endangered by environmental and climate change, or inadequate management.
This Special Issue will address specific functions of forest soils, the processes that threaten these functions, and management approaches that will preserve or recover them.
