Description
Microsoft's VBScript, a simplified version of Visual Basic (VB), is a powerful, easy-to-learn tool that can add interaction to web pages. VBScript is upwardly compatible to Visual Basic for Applications, which is upwardly compatible with VB. VBScript is a pure interpreter that processes source code embedded directly in HTML documents and is a valuable alternative to JavaScript in activating web pages. VBScript was designed to be used either as a client-side scripting language for Microsoft Internet Explorer or as a server-sided scripting language with the Microsoft Internet Information Server. VBScript is the major scripting language for Active Server Pages (ASP). ASP extends standard HTML by adding built-in objects and server-side scripting, and by allowing access to databases and other server-side ActiveX components. This book begins with a multi-chapter VBScript overview that provides a foundation for the projects that follow. There is also a companion website which contains all of the book's scripts.
