Politics And Development In Latin America

This is an examination of the main development paths pursued by Latin American societies since the late-19th century, and an exploration of the interaction between export-sector expansion, state-making and development paths. Using Cardoso and Faletto's "Dependency and Development in Latin America" as a starting and reference point, the author covers issues raised by the main approaches to studying politics and development in Latin America, providing a reappraisal of the historical-structural theory espoused by Cardoso and Faletto as well as other perspectives on large-scale social change.
