In Village Song, Foley explores life in a rural Gaeltacht village in the south-east of Ireland over the space of a year, giving a rare glimpse into a unique way of life. She places the daily mysteries of life under the microscope to awaken the imagination of the reader to see the universal in the mundane. It takes a village to raise a child but it's the child in the village that reveals the magic of belonging.
