Person
I grew up in a small town in eastern South Dakota. From an early age, I developed a passion for art. Throughout my childhood, I would sign up for any Art class or program that was available. I dabbled in many forms of creativity from painting, sculpting, pottery, photography, and my personal favorite, drawing. As I became older, I also became interested in understanding people. Therefore I decided to pursue a career in psychology. However, when I was finished with high school, I started working for a summer enrichment program for elementary students. That is when I realized how rewarding it is to have a positive impact on the future. The natural zest for life and genuine curiosity of the children was inspiring. So after my first semester in college, I switched my major. I graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 2011 and then a degree in Elementary Education from Dakota State University in 2013. I have been teaching in an elementary school in South Dakota ever since. As a teacher, I want to be able to help children realize that creativity, hard work, and persistence is how the world evolves.
