Competence-based Assessment Techniques

This text is designed primarily to aid the understanding of some of the basic principles of assessment in the light of the drive towards vocational qualifications. The book adopts a competence based approach and suggests practical means of assessment. It begins with a definition of performance, describes the nature of competence based standards and gives assessment models and processes. This in turn leads to the formulation of an assessment plan in which "rules of evidence" play a major role. Operational constraints and influences on assessment are considered, and a variety of assessment techniques explored as to strengths and weaknesses.
