'Many social policy courses do contain 'theory' modules at levels 2 or 3, and this would be a useful book to support such learning. The potential market for a student text in this area is real. We would be likely to use it here, at least as a secondary text, on one or two of our modules. There is also genuine scope for an international market given the breadth of coverage and the relevance of these debates to policy developments in other advanced countries.
