Joyce J. Fitzpatrick, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN, is the Elizabeth Brooks Ford Professor of Nursing, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was Dean from 1982 through 1997. She has received numerous honors and awards including the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award 18 times. Dr. Fitzpatrick is widely published in nursing and health care literature, is senior editor for Springer's revived Nursing Leadership and Management Series and just stepped down as senior editor for Springer's Annual Review of Nursing Research Series. Her most recent Springer books are The Doctor of Nursing Practice and Clinical Nurse Leader: Essentials of Program Development and Implementation for Clinical Practice; 201 Careers in Nursing; Encyclopedia of Nursing Research 3e, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing: An Interpersonal Approach (with Jones & Rogers). Meredith Wallace Kazer, PhD, APRN, A/GNP-BC, is Associate Professor, Fairfield University, School of Nursing. Dr. Kazer is a well-known Springer author, and her books include the previous edition of Encyclopedia of Nursing Research (2005), Prostate Cancer Nursing Assessment Management and Care (2002), an AJN Book of the Year Award winner; Essentials of Gerontological Nursing (2007); ,Gerontological Nurse Certification Review (2008), and the Gerontological NP Certification Review. In 2002 she was Associate Editor,The Geriatric Nursing Research Digest. She is a recipient of the ENRS/John A. Hartford Foundation investigator award. Dr. Kazer is an adult NP and currently practices in primary care with a focus on chronic illness in the elderly.
