Early Literacy

Explains how teachers may live up to ideas of child-centred learning while ensuring progress, especially in under-resourced classrooms. This book looks at theories about how children learn and the knowledge they bring to the task as well as examining research on successful teaching. All of the aspects of literacy are discussed in relation to the National Curriculum, especially in relation to Key Stage 1 of literacy learning.
