Description
Andrew Goudie's "The Nature of the Environment" (first published 1984, third editon 1993) is an introduction to physical geography and environmental science. This accompanying teacher's guide is divided into sections paralleling those of "The Nature of the Environment". In each section, David Fielding provides an overview of the main themes, focusing on the concepts that students most frequently find difficult, and including brief questions and answers to help reinforce understanding of the issues under discussion. Each section concludes with a more extensive range of exercises: these range in complexity from multiple choice questions to data response questions, essay topics and worksheets. The author also includes exercises in the area - such as the interpretation of maps and graphs - where even the best students tend to falter. The final section of the guide provides a critical account of resources for use in teaching and in the field. These include journals, maps, videos, slides and software, plus details of how to obtain them.
