Description
In Theological Foundations for Counseling, theologian J. V. Fesko equips students and counseling practitioners with essential doctrinal knowledge for Christian counseling practice.
Fesko focuses on key doctrines most relevant to counseling ministry: general and special revelation, faith and reason, suffering, and union with Christ. Drawing from classic Reformed theology, he demonstrates how counselors can faithfully use both Scripture and wisdom drawn from the creation to counsel effectively and biblically.
Each chapter combines solid theological exposition with practical application to connect doctrinal knowledge directly to counseling practice. Fesko shows how psychological concepts can be helpfully deployed within a Reformed framework, providing students with the theological foundation necessary for wise, Scripture-based counseling that honors both special revelation and the insights available through careful study of God's created order.
