Description
EGOV 2008 is the seventh edition of a highly successful series of annual international conferences dedicated to the numerous aspects of electronic government in both research and practice. EGOV showcases completed research, ongoing research, practitioner projects, and general-interest papers. For the fourth year in a row, the conference is anteceded by a doctoral colloquium. Like its six predecessor conferences, EGOV 2008 brings together scholars and practitioners from all across the globe. This year, five continents and 36 countries are represented.
The international EGOV conferences provide a platform for exchanging completed research, research in progress, practitioner and project reports, as well as workshops and panels on specialty topics. This year, thirty-two full research papers (empirical and conceptual) have been accepted for publication in the Springer LNCS # 5184 proceedings.
This proceeding covers twenty-eight contributions of ongoing research and one on general development, which have been clustered under the following topical threads:
- Transforming Government
- Assessment, evaluation and benefit models for ICT investments
- Inclusion and user-centred design
- eParticipation
- Service architectures and interoperability
- Trust and security
Apart from the ongoing research contributions, this year's conference covers thirteen project and case descriptions addressing different aspects of eGovernment and eParticipation developments.
Furthermore, five special workshops and two panels on emerging and reflexive themes are organized. Brief descriptions thereof are provided in the proceedings at hand.
