Description
Big, bold and beautiful, this is the enthralling celestial follow-up to Mythologica: Amazon's No. 1 Children's Non-Fiction Book of the Year 2019.
How did the moon influence mighty emperors in Ancient China? Why are star signs so popular around the world? How did constellations help early seafarers sail safely across the vast Pacific? Blending science and storytelling, Astrologica introduces you to the marvels of our cosmos like you've never seen them before.
The planets, stars, Sun and Moon have always fascinated us. Thousands of years ago, we built awe-inspiring monuments to honour them, invented geometry to study their movements, and took inspiration from them for stories about animals, gods and life itself. Today we have an enduring connection through zodiacs and more, ever linking us to the cosmos. But why is this?
This gorgeously illustrated book is designed to introduce young stargazers to the celestial. You'll uncover:
The Origins of Astrology
Myths Of the Tropical Zodiac
Myths Of the Solar System
Myths Of the Stars
Stargazing Around the World
Astrology and You
Across these chapters, you'll learn about the antics of Greek gods, indigenous traditions and scientific breakthroughs. You'll delve into zodiac lore as you journey around the globe, from Mali to Hawai?i, Norway and Australia. You'll also travel through time, visiting early civilisations and empires to learn about the dawn of storytelling itself - and that's just the start.
Astrologica includes:
* The history of astronomy and astrology, including ancient rites and customs
* The global star-lore behind famous constellations
* The lore behind the Tropical and Chinese zodiac systems, plus their dates, traits and quirks
* Stories of the gods and goddesses associated with the planets
* How stars have served as maps, clocks and calendars for millennia
Featuring over 100 pages of unforgettable artwork, fascinating facts and powerful stories, this book is the perfect gift for curious young minds aged 9+.

Suki Ferguson is a writer. She is the author of Young Oracle Tarot: An initiation into tarot's mystic wisdom (Quarto, 2022) and Astrologica: An encyclopedia of myths and legends from the planets, stars and skies (Quarto, 2025). Her work explores mythology, culture and history, while prizing self-reflection and the natural world. She grew up in a small village in the British countryside and now lives in London.
Camelia Pham is a Vietnamese illustrator and art director based in Hanoi. After discovering a love of conceptual, storytelling illustration, she now finds herself illustrating full-time on a variety of projects from editorial features to advertising campaigns and narrative projects. Her art style utilises strong colours, bold geometry, and kaleidoscopic textures to create a portfolio of work that is both complex in textures and thoughtful in concepts. Camelia began illustrating as a way to remedy the pressures of the education system and express her feelings on different subjects that are close to her heart.
