Description
Repeat victimization has emerged as a highly significant and influential concept which has permeated crime prevention and policing research and practice in the UK and beyond. This book examines the way in which the concept emerged out of the repeat victimization research sponsored by the Home Office, detailing the findings of the major projects and their implications and setting these in the context of a broader programme of research and investigation. A particular concern is to examine strategies, tactics, local contexts and preventive mechanisms in relation to each project, concluding that what works in crime prevention is strong preventive mechanisms tailored to the local context. This in turn has played a key role in facilitating progress in the understanding and identification of 'what works' in crime prevention practice.
