Description
Michael Faraday's scientific discoveries laid the basis for our modern electrical world. As a young man he travelled through Europe with Sir Humphry Davy who, by Napoleon's special permission, was visiting scientists in France, Italy and Switzerland. Faraday kept a diary, published in full here for the first time, together with letters he wrote while in Europe. he described some of the scientific work. Davy was doing, but most of his description is about the customs of the countries and details of scenery and buildings. In this volume we can follow the journey and share Faraday's interst in the people and places he visited.
