Parallelwelten

Parallelwelten ("parallel worlds") presents an array of innovative photographic and graphic works by design students. In the framework of the international competition 'focus', the students were called upon to visually interpret the theme parallel worlds. The broad spectrum of the varied awarded results reaches from images of surreal everyday situations to fragmented objects with irritating dissimilarity. The enigmatic and highly illusive visuals shown in Parallelwelten give an up-to-date survey on the possibilities that contemporary imagery offers. Fons M. Hickmann (Dortmund University / Design faculty) took charge of the book project Parallelwelten. Its layout is by designers Anke Nowottne and Esther Sternkopf. The book also includes texts by design and media theorists that are neatly interwoven with the images.
