Primary Science

This is an A to Z reference guide to the Science Programmes of Study for Key Stage 2 with suggestions for approaches, activities and investigations related to each strand. It is intended for the use of primary teachers in years 3-6 (Key Stage 2), primary science co-ordinators and advisors. The book has been written to support teachers implementing National Curriculum Science at Key Stage 2. The main section of the book is an A to Z glossary of words and phrases from the Science Programme of Study. It provides valuable background knowledge for teachers, information about which materials are appropriate at Key Stage 2, and advice on the depth of treatment required. The book also contains a section on planning for Key Stage 2, based on the strands in the Programme of Study, with ideas for starting points. A framework for scientific investigations is provided, along with photocopiable stimulus sheets.
