There are many good James commentaries and scholars-and Eng is one of them-but this Hodder Commentary is also a delight to read. Some commentaries get bogged down in endless academic squabbles. Eng's work is exegetically reliable, peppered with insightful analogies, illustrations and charts, and focused on the meaning of the text.
