Anni Albers (*1899 Charlottenburg near Berlin-1994 Orange, CT) was a German-American textile artist, weaver and graphic designer. She studied and taught at the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau. After the National Socialists came to power in 1933, she emigrated to the USA with her husband Josef Albers. There she taught at the newly founded Black Mountain College art school. From the 1950s onwards, she worked in Connecticut as a freelance textile artist; in 1966/67, she designed the large-format Holocaust memorial Six Prayers, commissioned by the Jewish Museum, New York.
