Description
In 1985 Leeds launched an ambitious programme, the "Primary Needs Independent Evaluation Project" (PRINDEP), to improve the quality of education in its 230 primary schools. This book, the first of two volumes, is drawn from seven of the reports which evaluated the initiative. These studies deal with change at a number of levels - in classroom practice, in school management, and in LEA policy - and in so doing they explore a variety of processes, from the minutiae of teacher-pupil interaction to staff professional relationships, school and LEA administrative procedures and a wide variety of strategies at the three levels for making change happen.
