Description
Low back pain is a leading cause of disability. It occurs in similar proportions in all cultures, interferes with quality of life and work performance. Mechanical low back pain is associated with pain and clinical instability in lumbar motion segments. Spinal stability is formed by active, passive and neural subsystems. Harmonious function of this system is altered by dysfunction of one or more components leading to clinical instability of motion segments ending in chronic low back pain. It has been shown that patients with low back pain have decreased levels of muscular endurance in the lumbar extensors and flexors (abdominal muscles). Exercises play an important part in the rehabilitation of low back pain. Re-education of the trunk muscles are achieved by using Core stabilization exercises.
