Description
This text addresses Key Stage three students in language they can understand to help them and their teachers to see the links between AT 1 (investigating and making) and AT 2 (knowledge and understanding). The familiar themes are used as starting points for exploring critical vocabulary, research skills, uses of IT, objective drawing, technical diversity and multicultural links. Examples chosen represent the locality, the non-Western world and artists of past and present times. Suggestions for students' work are included in the form of short tasks and longer activities which help teachers to plan their scheme of work for the key stage. Students are also encouraged to use sketchbooks to record and develop their ideas (reinforcing links with D&T) and to evaluate their own work as well as that of others.
