Lawrence C. Smith, Jr., PhD is a Professor of Economics at Louisiana Tech University. He received his doctorate from the University of Mississippi. In his distinguished career, Dr. Smith has made significant academic contributions in teaching, research, and service. In 1999 he was selected as the first Fellow of the Academy of Economics and Finance. Dr. Smith's accomplishments include numerous professional journal articles, books, and professional meeting presentations. Among the journals in which he has published are the following: Journal of Economic Education, Journal of Economics and Finance, Southwestern Economic Review, Journal of Real Estate Appraisal and Economics, and Oil, Gas & Energy Quarterly.
