Description
The important collection of anatomical wax models at Vienna's Josephinum has for centuries held a special fascination. The many photographs in this illustrated book celebrate the beauty of anatomy as well as the great craftsmanship with which these medical teaching aids were produced in the eighteenth century. Prominent authors relate the history of the Josephinum, of the unique collection and its art-historical significance, and present the Josephinum in the field of tension between its history and present-day importance as a vibrant exhibition space.
