G. R. Driver (1892-1975) was Fellow of Magdalen College and Professor of Semitic Philology at Oxford University. Among his many publications are 'Aramaic Documents of the Fifth Century BC, ' 'Semitic Writing: From Pictograph to Alphabet, ' and 'Canaanite Myths and Legends.' John C. Miles (1870-1963) was Honorary Fellow of Merton College and Exeter College, Oxford University. He was also a barrister. He and Driver also collaborated on 'The Assyrian Laws.'
