Description
The beauty of mindfulness is that it's incredibly simple both to 'get' and to practice. And the results - increasingly backed by neuro-scientific evidence -- are priceless: calmness and reduced stress, more creativity, greater awareness, compassion. . . And yet there's a danger that mindfulness can be used in a purely consumerist and self-serving way to help people to become better adapted cogs in a still-toxic model of work and life.
Brian Draper challenges us to live not just mindfully but soulfully. Not merely to be less stressed, but to flourish, dynamically and creatively - to be present - through living intentionally and compassionately.

Reviews / Votes
Draper takes the vogue for mindfulness to a deeper level: soulfulness * Oliver James - Psychologist * Reading Brian Draper's new book Soulfulness is like coming home, but realizing home is even more spacious than you had imagined...this is mindfulness at its most simple and profound...The writing flows with mastery. * The Baptist Times * Consistently thoughtful and dynamic writing... a book to dwell on rather than devour...We could all do with picking up this book. After all, it's in waking up to our souls that we really find out what it means to live. * Christianity Magazine * Soulfulness though is not just about theory. Draper takes us through a practical exercise that reveals all too clearly how in our busy lives we can so easily be tempted on a path that leads to burn-out... thank you, Dr Draper, for your brief introduction in these techniques. I'll try to bear it in mind, as my father would have said, for the good of my moral soul. * Christian Today * Draper wants us to live not only mindfully but soulfully too, not just to be less stressed, but to flourish creatively by making use of the Christian spiritual tradition. * The Church Newspaper * Brian Draper has written an important book...There is much about this book that is beautiful and inspirational. * The Irish Catholic * Soulfulness [...] is actually quite radical. It takes the good things of that practice [mindfulness] and adds some salt and light to the mix. * The Church Times * Brian Draper wants to encourage those who practice [mindfulness] to move beyond simply learning a few new techniques to deepen their relationship with God. * The Herald * Simple and beautiful, an inspirational book for all...Brian Draper has written an important book... The main point of this moving and thought-provoking book is to help us become more fully alive. * The Irish Catholic *
