Description
This handbook covers all aspects of modern paediatric anaesthesia; from common ENT and general surgical day case procedures through to specialist neonatal, neurosurgical, spinal and cardiac procedures restricted to paediatric centres. Paediatric Anaesthesia deals with individual surgical procedures on a case by case basis covering the whole care of a patient from preoperative assessment, through the provision of anaesthesia and pain relief, to postoperative care. There are also chapters on resuscitation, complications during anaesthesia, congenital syndromes and medical conditions which affect anaesthesia and sedation of children. A concise source of knowledge and advice, this handbook provides rapid access to relevant material with sufficient detail and explanation to make it invaluable to a trainee new to the sub-specialty or any specialist practitioner working on paediatric anaesthesia.

...very thorough step=by-step guidance on how to carry through everyday procedures...in terms of...performing nerve blocks and managing everyday paediatric scenarios, this book is a great companion...i have yet to find a book that does it this well and to this level of detail. GKT Gazette ...the content is well executed and very relevant. Any anaesthetic SpR who may be starting a paediatric module would be happy to have this book in their pocket. gkt gazette. I will certainly be keeping my copy tied down in the paediatric theatres where it will be invaluable both for teaching and for reference for my trainees (in anaesthesia, as well as operating department practitioners and nursing staff) and indeed for me. And at a cost of GBP39.95 what's not to like. Well done to the authors and editor. Jane Lockie, UCL Hospitals, British Journal of Hospital Medicine, vol 69, no. 8 This...is a multiply authored book with, in general, one or two pages per topic. It is very well et out in chapters and has an excellent index which has not yet let me down...The editing is excellent...It is also very easy to read and presents clearly a huge amount of clinically useful and up to date information for both experienced and less experienced members of the paediatric anaesthesia team. British Journal of Hospital Medicine, vol 69, no. 8 With 17 chapters, divided into six sections, Paediatric Anaesthesia manages to cover all aspects of current practice in a clear and direct style. Each topic is clearly arranged on a dedicated well indexed page and cross-referenced...Practical, pragmatic and relevant this book will find favour with trainee and experienced specialist alike as a helpful source of information for the conduct and teaching of anaesthesia...I would anticipate using it regularly if I could only remember which trainee "borrowed" it last.More details
