Description
When an oil well or oil field reaches the end of its normal life, as much as 75% of the "original oil place" is still left underground in the oil wells because recovering the "stranded oil" is either too difficult or too expensive, or both. The dramatic increase in the urgency to develop these untapped reserves in mature fields has created renewed interest in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technologies on a global scale. Written for new or practicing engineers, who want to learn more about enhanced oil recovery process, techniques, and applications, Enhanced Oil Recovery Processes and Practical Applications, offers an overview of EOR best practices with an emphasis on issues relevant to field applications.
Succinct and easy to understand, the authors begin with an explanation of the fundamental factors which effect recovery such as diffusion, capillarity, gravity, and phase behavior. This is followed by four self contained chapters which systematically introduces the various types of EOR operations and equipment along with their pros and cons. With this introduction, new engineers, technicians and project managers will find a valuable guide to the methods, equipment and project workflows which are critical to EOR operations. While practicing professionals gain more knowledge regarding industry best practices.
