Description
If you are old enough to remember Tang(TM) or Space Food Sticks from Pillsbury, you will completely understand my motivation for publishing this document. Astronauts in spacesuits are still astronauts that need to eat. The more astronauts wear spacesuits, the more they need food that can get through the spacesuit somehow. What was old, will be new once again. This 2023 presentation offers NASA's recommendations for developing space suit integrated food systems and delivering nutrition during lunar extravehicular activities (EVAs). It addresses the critical need for adequate nutrition support during the Artemis program, which aims to conduct a higher tempo and frequency of EVAs than any previous space program. By reading this document, readers can gain insights into the challenges and potential solutions for providing in-suit nutrition to astronauts, which is crucial for their health, performance, and mission success in future space exploration endeavors. This annotated edition illustrates the capabilities of the AI Lab for Book-Lovers to add context and ease-of-use to manuscripts. It includes several types of abstracts, building from simplest to more complex: TLDR (one word), ELI5, TLDR (vanilla), Scientific Style, and Action Items; essays to increase viewpoint diversity, such as Grounds for Dissent, Red Team Critique, and MAGA Perspective; and Notable Passages and Nutshell Summaries for each page.
