Description
Designed for existing businesses and those contemplating an Internet start-up, this guide offers an introduction to e-commerce from scratch. While hi-tech stocks and Internet launches have briefly blossomed and died, a quieter revolution has been taking place in many of the small businesses which already successfully provide goods or services. This handbook is directed at the proponents and intended proponents of this quiet and increasingly successful revolution - those businesses looking for sustainable, organic growth on the Internet. Within each chapter there are hints and tips to help businesses and "did you know" sections which highlight current issues. Useful Web links are provided, as are brief glossaries for the uninitiated in either business or IT jargon.

Person
After stints as a Butlin's redcoat, a professional actor and in engineering, Neil moved to a 20 year spell as a departmental head, teaching politics, business, economics and information technology in schools, colleges and universities. At present he is also senior examiner, assessor and moderator for GCSE and GNVQ and a member of the QCA Business Forum. He had written numerous short publications before approaching Hodder in 1997 with an idea for a text written specifically for and endorsed by a leading examination board. The result, written with Peter Thomas, was the hugely successful NEAB GCSE Business Studies. Numerous other successful texts followed. Neil is a member of the national committee for the sport of fellrunning and edited 'The Fellrunner' magazine for ten years. He now divides his time between writing, university teaching and his own educational consultancy business.
