Description
As her title implies, Kate Deimling offers us meditations formal and informal on the vicissitudes of time. More specifically, how best to manage its ravages and double-crossings. Hint: it helps if you don't sit still in one time zone. Enter Lot's wife. Enter a figure skater after she crashes. Enter the three-legged dog that romps with the best, and the Roman emperor who would rather grow cabbages than rule Rome again. The collection opens and opens, leaving room for Deimling's own stories and ours. And what do you do when a friend jumps from a dorm window but only breaks his leg? You take scones to the hospital and talk about the big snow.
