The "Happiness is a cigar called Hamlet" advertising campaign is one of the longest-running in advertising history - it began in 1963. Cartoons have long been part of the campaign, and in the last three years Hamlet humour has been seen on billboards across the UK. A weekly strip cartoon in the "News of the World" and the poster art of Ian Dicks have taken the Hamlet movement to a new surreal level.
