Dr Alan Day received an honours degree in history from the University of Cambridge, an MPhil degree in English from the University of Leeds, a PhD degree in geography from the University of Manchester, and a postgraduate diploma in Librarianship from University College London. His World Bibliographical Series volume, England, was included in CHOICE's Outstanding Academic Books list in January 1995 and was nominated as one of 1995's best research tools by Lingua Franca. He is joint-editor-compiler of Walford's Guide to Reference Material Vol. 2.
