Dr Catherine Dawson began her research career in the mind 1980s, having completed a Master's Degree in Social Research. However, it wasn't all plain sailing: she was almost put off from pursuing her research career before it had started, due to the complex terminology and difficult style adopted by authors of some social research books. However, she persevered and, as she gained more experience, she made it a mission to provide practical, down-to-earth information and advice for people who want to pursue a career in research. Having written various research methods and study skills books, she has now turned her attention to research funding, helping to ease the application and submission process for all types of researcher.
