In addition to being an award-winning author for her first two books, Sunny Davis is a retired teacher and school counselor, a military wife, a mother of three, and a grandmother of eleven. The idea to write children's books was with her throughout her career, but the workload of a teacher and counselor didn't leave much room for writing. Once retired, she had the mindshare and the time to develop her first series, The Parent Series, which is largely influenced by watching her children parent their little ones. She could see in them the end-of-the-day fatigue, which brought back memories of herself as a young mother and how often she had felt that nothing much had been accomplished in a day; and then there was the bedtime story that her children were still waiting for her to read. The five books in the Parent Series celebrate the commitment and the love parents show in the ordinary day-to-day interactions they have with their children. Even the smallest task or the first reaction can have an impact that make children feel loved, safe, and important. The moms and dads in the books represent many ethnicities to illustrate the commonalities in raising a child no matter the culture or religion or country. The intent is that when a parent reads one of these books to their children, he or she will be validated and appreciated for choosing to care, to support, to provide, to comfort, and to show love. My Mommy's Face is the fourth in her series of five books that celebrate parents.
