Description
This new Church of Ireland hymnalwill be in use from September 2000. This is the first major new hymnal in the denomination since 1960, and will bring to the Church a wide and useful selection of texts and tunes. At the same time, the Church is becoming accustomed to using the provisions of the Revised Common Lectionary. This again offers a wider selection of readings, psalms, and canticles, but the structure is less well defined than the earlier lectionaries that have been used. A guide to the most appropriate hymns for use on every major Sunday and festival will therefore be useful for all those responsible for the ordering of regular worship. This book is intended for clergy, lay ministers, and music directors principally in the Church of Ireland.
